Turtle Rose Soaps August 07 2024, 0 Comments

Debbie says: "Hi Chrys: I'm a soap maker that has recently started selling my soap. I saw your email about soap makers sending you photos of their soap using your product. Attached are a couple photos of two soaps I've made recently using clays I got from you. The two different purple clays you sell and you can see how they show up differently color-wise. I love using your clays and almost exclusively get my soap making clays from you.

My son Colby, his fiancée Zoe and I started Turtle Rose Soaps a few years ago but couldn't get it started because of some health issues I had. Now we are off the ground. Maybe not running yet, but definitely walking quickly. 😃 I have been making soap since 2018 and noticed such a difference in my skin, I knew I wanted to eventually make and sell soap.

I am a big advocate of small businesses and try to use a local or small business as much as I can."

Jennifer says: "The art of soap making is what captured my interest initially. I wanted to learn all of the techniques and learn how to execute them perfectly. I am not a dip your toe in the water kind of person when it comes to learning. I tried Hanger Swirls, Drop Swirls, Splash Swirls, Feather Swirls, Tiawan Swirls, Ombre, Woodgrain....the list goes on. Then one of my coworkers told me that he heard I made soap and he wanted to know if I could make his daughter a Sea Moss soap. She had 3rd degree burns over 70% of her body. I took on the challenge and after about a month of serious research I made her a fragrance free Aloe & Oats Sea Moss soap that she absolutely loved. Then I became much more ingredient based in my soap making. I still love my Swirls, but the recipes are what I work on the most. I never stop formulating. I always have a notebook with me so I can jot down a recipe or an ingredient to explore. I had never liked using artificial colorants, but now I exclusively use all natural ones. Mainly your clays as you know. 😆 I also do Oil Infusions, but your clays pretty much cover any color that I need. I do need more Black, Greylicious, and Dark Green for sure. I just made a soap using a Y Fragrance dupe that sells out all the time. I have already pre sold half of my bars, so I need to get on making another loaf and I have maybe just enough to get it done. I am in love with the bluish grey color I get with Greylicious!!!"

Mountain Lore Naturals August 04 2024, 0 Comments

Ren says: "I started soaping as a creative outlet and to explore uncommon ingredients that many haven’t heard of. I decided to combine my love of storytelling, the mountains, and folklore from around the world to serve as inspiration. The black soap, for example, represents Mt. Roan, located between TN and NC in the USA. Folklore tells of mysterious whispers or echoes atop the mountain. I personally have never heard of any, but who knows?!
In the future, I will have a blog with more details about these mountains and their folk stories from countries in every continent."

"Here are my photo submissions. These were colored with a combo of red and yellow Brazilian clays to make orange; then, a nice black Brazilian clay, scented with an EO blend that includes rhododendron essential oil; and lastly, lavender EO with intense purple Brazilian clay and chamomile on top."

Seidy says: "Hi Chica! So, my journey with DIY projects began one summer when I was desperately looking to formulate a simple, clean, yet effective product for my skin. Commercial products promise a lot but deliver very little. That forced curiosity led me to my current passion of soap making. The whole process of soap making-from picking out the best natural ingredients to cutting that beautiful loaf of soap- is incredibly satisfying. I have made it my mission to only use the best sourced natural ingredients from trust worthy vendors. And that's where Rainforest Chica comes in. I trust her products and absolutely love the clays. I purchased the sampler that contains all the clays. I made a beautiful bar soap using
Brazilian Clay - Red - Organic and it came out amazingly beautiful!"
