Batana Oil comes from the same plant but it is made from the exterior layer of the seed.

Trademarked as Ojon™ oil and used on hair products with the same name, Caiaué oil or Dendê Bravo oil as it is called in Brazil, has increasingly became on of the most sought after ingredients for hair treatment. In Central America this oil is called "Batana" and the appearance is usually firmer.

Caiaue Oil is a great oil for chemically treated, damaged and dry hair, can be used mixed with your regular products and as a deep treatment oil. It is a heavy oil, and the recommended usage is 1 - 3 times a week depending on hair type and damage level.

It can also be used as a thermal protector. Before using a dryer and flat iron, apply a few drops of oil in the still wet hair. To reduce the volume and eliminate frizz, apply small amount of oil to dry hair.

It is not necessary to mix it with another vegetable oil or moisturizers. Apply the pure oil in the hair after shampoo and before conditioner - so you repairs damage and dryness. The procedure can be done whenever you feel the need to apply it, but its use is not indicated more than three times a week, it may leave the hair heavy and greasy (for being too dense).

BIOLOGY

Elaeis oleifera is a species of palm commonly called the American oil palm. It is native to South and Central America from Honduras to northern Brazil.

This palm is a close cousin to the Palm that produces the Palm Oil (elaeis guineensis) but it isn't planted commercially therefore there is no environmental destruction from it. In Central America they produce an oil called Batana from this tree.

*The Amazonian butters and oils have been tested by generations of rainforest's indigenous and ribeirinho people. They are used for cooking, baking, healing, moisturizing and protecting against the elements.

When we consume Amazonia's sustainable, non-timber-products, we give the local people an alternative to logging and farming which are the two largest responsible factors of the deforestation of such an important ecosystem.

Rainforest Chica's products are wild harvested or ethically farmed. With constant focus on sustainability and fair treatment of harvester, farmers, transporters and producers.
